Angels of Death, or Satsuriku no Tenshi, originated as a Japanese horror adventure game developed by Makoto Sanada using RPG Maker. Its narrative, which centers on a young girl named Rachel Gardner and a serial killer named Zack Foster navigating a surreal dungeon, gained a significant cult following due to its psychological depth and unique character dynamics. This popularity spurred the 2018 adaptation, which was produced by J.C.Staff and released as a television anime series.

The production sought to translate the game's distinct, gothic visual style into a dynamic animated format while maintaining the tension of its claustrophobic setting.
