Where it came from
Another Time was produced by Geidai Animation, the renowned animation department at the Tokyo University of the Arts. This film serves as a product of the university's rigorous master's program, which is dedicated to fostering the next generation of independent animators under the guidance of industry masters. It emerged from a pedagogical environment that prioritizes experimental storytelling and traditional craft, reflecting the program's commitment to pushing the boundaries of the medium beyond commercial constraints.
The film is defined by the technical precision and singular artistic vision characteristic of Geidai's student productions. By focusing on nuanced narrative pacing and distinct aesthetic choices, the creators aimed to explore themes of temporal flux and human memory. Upon its release, the film was largely received within the context of international animation festivals, where it earned recognition for its sophisticated visual language and the technical proficiency of its student production team.
