Ren Nanahoshi is a lonely college student who isn't good at communicating with others. He remembers the thrill of watching a live band perform when he was young, and spent most of his days searching for his own identity. One day, while singing karaoke alone, two boys named Yuuto and Wataru discover Ren's singing ability. The two agree: "This is fate. Let's start a band!" Ren promptly runs away, but fate indeed steps in, and their journey begins.

Where it came from
Argonavis from BanG Dream! emerged in 2020 as a significant expansion of the multimedia BanG Dream! franchise. Produced by studio SANZIGEN, the series was designed to shift the focus from the established all-female bands to an all-male perspective, following the narrative of the band Argonavis as they navigate the music scene in Hakodate. The project sought to blend 3D CGI performance sequences with traditional character-driven drama, aiming to replicate the successful cross-media strategy of live concert performances paired with animated storytelling.
The character designs and musical direction were crafted to maintain continuity with the broader BanG Dream! aesthetic while introducing a distinct, grittier atmosphere suitable for a male-led narrative. Upon its release, the series was received as a technically ambitious attempt to bridge the gap between idol-style performance anime and conventional band-focused storytelling. It solidified its place within the franchise by emphasizing the real-world musical capabilities of its voice cast, who performed the songs featured throughout the series.
