Ark Nine

Ark Nine is a 2013 original video animation (OVA) produced by Hoods Entertainment. The project was conceived as an adaptation of the light novel series written by Yasuhiko Natsume, which blends elements of science fiction and high-stakes supernatural battle tropes. The production emerged during a period when Hoods Entertainment was frequently exploring niche light novel properties, aiming to translate the dense, text-heavy world-building of the source material into a compressed visual format.

The animation direction and character designs aimed to capture a sleek, modern aesthetic typical of the mid-2010s anime market, focusing on the dynamic movement required for the series' combat sequences. Despite the ambition to distill the core conflicts of the Ark Nine universe into a single installment, the release received a muted critical reception. Critics and fans of the medium generally noted the challenge of adapting a complex narrative structure into a short OVA, leading to a production that is now primarily regarded as a curiosity for collectors interested in the specific output of Hoods Entertainment during this era.
