Bai Gui Youeryuan

Bai Gui Youeryuan, or 'Ghost Kindergarten,' emerged from the creative output of TrioPen Studio during a period of burgeoning interest in stylized, short-form digital animation within the Chinese internet space. Produced as an Original Net Animation (ONA), the series was crafted to explore whimsical, supernatural themes through a lighthearted lens, moving away from traditional folklore portrayals toward a contemporary, comedic aesthetic suitable for a broad online audience.

The design philosophy behind the series centers on character-driven charm and a distinctively polished, minimalist visual style that allows for expressive, fluid movement. By blending macabre subject matter with the innocent setting of a schoolhouse, the creators aimed to subvert genre expectations while maintaining an accessible tone. The project was well-received by fans of independent animation for its creative character designs and the technical proficiency demonstrated by the small studio team.
