Riding a bicycle may be better than walking, but when another girl zips past her on the way to class, Sakura Hane realizes that there’s an even better option: motorcycles! Fortunately, Sakura’s all-girl school just happens to have a motorcycle club! It only has one member though: the mysterious Raimu Kawasaki, who’s never been seen without her face-obscuring helmet. But that changes immediately once Sakura and the girl who passed her, Onsa Amano, sign up and start recruiting! It won’t all be easy riding… Sakura still has to earn her license, and there are problems like the club’s official status having slipped, and the need to recruit a faculty sponsor.

Where it came from
Bakuon!! originated as a seinen manga series by Mimana Orimoto, which began serialization in 2011 before being adapted into a twelve-episode television anime series by TMS Entertainment in 2016. The series follows a group of high school students who join their school's motorcycle club, blending slice-of-life comedy with a genuine appreciation for motorcycle culture. It was produced during a period of rising interest in hobby-focused anime, aiming to demystify the biking world for a broader audience while highlighting the specific characteristics of various iconic motorcycle models.
The production team, directed by Junji Nishimura, leaned into a lighthearted and often satirical tone to capture the camaraderie of the characters, Rion, Hane, and their peers. The show is particularly noted for its faithful mechanical designs, as the studio collaborated with major motorcycle manufacturers to ensure the depicted machines were rendered with high technical accuracy. Upon its release, the series received attention for its humorous take on the niche subculture of motorcycling, successfully balancing technical enthusiasm with character-driven narrative tropes.
