Where it came from
Bakusou Kyoudai Let's & Go!! MAX is the third television anime series in the popular Mini 4WD franchise produced by Xebec. It was released in 1998, building upon the success of its predecessors by shifting the focus to new protagonists, Go Ichimonji and Retsuya Ichimonji, who continue the high-stakes world of competitive miniature racing. The series emerged during the height of the Mini 4WD craze in Japan, driven by Tamiya’s engineering and the cross-promotional success of manga and anime adaptations.
The series design and narrative were crafted to maintain the momentum of the franchise while introducing a more intense, competitive edge to the races. Xebec’s production leaned into stylized character designs and dynamic race sequences that emphasized the technical modifications of the cars. Upon its release, it was well-received by the established fan base and played a significant role in sustaining interest in the hobbyist market throughout the late 1990s.
