Bakusou Kyoudai Let's & Go!! WGP

Bakusou Kyoudai Let's & Go!! WGP serves as the second installment in the popular anime franchise based on the Tamiya Mini 4WD racing series. Produced by studio Xebec and airing in 1997, the series shifted the focus from domestic racing to a global stage, featuring the World Grand Prix. This change in scope allowed the creative team to introduce an international cast of characters and specialized team-based racing dynamics, significantly expanding the narrative depth of the original premise.

The series was designed to coincide with the ongoing craze for high-performance Mini 4WD cars, serving as both a narrative continuation and an effective marketing vehicle for Tamiya's evolving product line. The visual direction aimed to emphasize the high-speed mechanical intensity of the cars, utilizing stylized animation to represent custom aerodynamic enhancements. Upon its release, the series was well-received for its ability to balance character-driven drama with the technical excitement inherent in the hobby, cementing its status as a staple of nineties sports-themed anime.
