Black Lagoon Omake

The Black Lagoon Omake episodes were produced by Studio Madhouse in 2009 as a collection of short, comedic vignettes released alongside the expanded animation projects for the series. Following the success of the initial two seasons, these segments were created to provide a lighter contrast to the gritty, high-octane narrative of Rei Hiroe's original manga, allowing the production team to experiment with character dynamics outside the constraints of the main storyline's darker themes.

These shorts were directed and storyboarded by the core creative team behind the anime adaptation, who utilized the Omake format to lean into slapstick humor and meta-commentary. By shifting the tone away from the brutal underworld of Roanapur, the animators focused on the absurd daily lives of the Lagoon Company crew. While the series is primarily celebrated for its intense action, these special features were well-received by fans as a way to see the protagonists in unconventional, comedic situations that remained consistent with their established personalities.
