Where it came from
Black Torch is an animated television series produced by 100studio, arriving in 2026 as a direct adaptation of the supernatural manga series by Tsuyoshi Takaki. The project emerged during a period of high demand for action-oriented urban fantasy animation, aiming to translate the manga's distinct blend of Japanese folklore and modern ninja aesthetics into a kinetic, high-fidelity visual format.
The production sought to preserve the sharp character designs and atmospheric battle sequences central to the source material. By partnering with 100studio, the series focused on fluid combat choreography and a dark, moody color palette intended to reflect the series' themes of invisible spirits and specialized government task forces. Upon its release, it was noted for its commitment to the original spirit of the manga, grounding its fantastical elements within a gritty, contemporary setting.
