Blood-C: None-None Gekijou

Blood-C: None-None Gekijou, or 'Blood-C: Theater of the None-None,' was produced by Production I.G in 2012 as a comedic ONA (Original Net Animation) spinoff. Following the conclusion of the darker, more visceral Blood-C television series, these short episodes were created to pivot away from the intense horror and tragedy of the main narrative, opting instead for a lighthearted, chibified style. The shorts served as a playful epilogue, allowing the studio to utilize the existing character models in absurd, non-canonical vignettes.

The animation direction for these shorts focused on a deliberate departure from the grounded, eerie aesthetic of the original show. By adopting a stylized, super-deformed aesthetic, the creators intended to provide a satirical release valve for the audience after the heavy tonal weight of the primary series. While the main Blood-C production was noted for its collaboration with the manga artist group CLAMP, these shorts were designed primarily as a meta-commentary on the characters' roles, often breaking the fourth wall to acknowledge the extreme nature of the television series.
