Boku no Imouto wa "Osaka Okan": Haishin Gentei Osaka Okan.

Released in 2012, Boku no Imouto wa 'Osaka Okan' is a short-form original net animation produced by Studio Charaction. The series was designed to capitalize on regional stereotypes, focusing on a protagonist who moves to Osaka and is confronted by a younger sister who embodies exaggerated tropes of the local culture, known as the 'Osaka Okan.' The production aimed for a comedic exploration of the cultural friction between Tokyo-centric norms and the distinct, boisterous identity often associated with Osakan residents in Japanese media.

The project was helmed by director and writer Keiji Gotoh, who utilized a minimalist animation style to emphasize the quick-paced, dialogue-driven humor characteristic of late-night comedic shorts. By distributing the episodes specifically as a web series, the studio sought to reach a younger, digital-native audience. While the show remained a niche production within the broader landscape of short-form anime, it is recognized for its commitment to the specific regional dialect and high-energy social dynamics that define the central Osaka-themed premise.
