Where it came from
Bottom Biting Bug 3, produced by Kinema Citrus and released in 2014, serves as the third iteration in a series of short-form musical anime segments originally inspired by a popular NHK children's program song. The series was created to translate the whimsical, rhythmic nature of the original nursery rhyme into a visual medium, utilizing simple character designs and upbeat animation to engage a young demographic.
The animation style focuses on high-energy, colorful movements meant to match the infectious melody of the song. While the series is categorized as a lighthearted television program, it reflects the broader trend of Japanese media adapting viral songs into expanded multimedia franchises. It was received primarily as a niche curiosity within the children’s television landscape, celebrated for its playful approach to visual storytelling.
