The anime centers around a boy named Kouta Kouga (Kouga Kouta in Japanese name order, an apparent wordplay on Coca-Cola). Kouta strives to be the world's best Bottle King at the Bottle Battles in the virtual Drink World. He comes across his Bottleman partner Colamaru and then wages battles with various rivals.

Where it came from
Cap Revolution Bottleman was launched in 2020 by Takara Tomy in collaboration with the animation studio Gaina. The project was designed as a multimedia franchise intended to revitalize the hobby of bottle cap flicking, a traditional Japanese playground game, by integrating it with high-tech hobby toys. The ONA series served as a fast-paced, promotional vehicle for the toy line, focusing on a competitive sport aesthetic that mirrored classic hobby-anime tropes.
The animation was produced by Gaina, an offshoot of the historic Gainax studio, which aimed for a hyper-energetic visual style to match the frantic speed of the toy battles. While the series was received primarily as a commercial tie-in, it was noted for its creative use of bottle caps as projectiles and its successful synchronization with the tactile design of the physical figures. The design of the characters and the Bottlemen themselves emphasizes modularity, allowing children to customize their toys for better performance in cap-shooting competitions.
