BUILD-DIVIDE -#000000- CODE BLACK

Build-Divide -#000000- Code Black represents a unique convergence of the trading card game and anime industries, commissioned by Aniplex to serve as a multimedia launchpad for the Build-Divide card game. Developed by studio Liden Films, the series was conceived as an integral component of the game's ecosystem, with the narrative framework designed to reflect the mechanics and competitive nature of the card game itself. It stands as a notable example of a modern cross-media project where the visual storytelling is intrinsically linked to the physical collectibility of the product it promotes.

The series design and aesthetic were crafted to appeal to fans of high-stakes battle anime, utilizing a dark, cyberpunk-inflected urban setting to distinguish it from more traditional fantasy or school-life card game narratives. The visual direction aimed to capture the intensity of the card battles through stylized animation sequences, a choice that sought to bridge the gap between static card mechanics and dynamic television entertainment. While it garnered attention for its novel integration of gameplay into its central premise, it was received primarily as a niche project tailored specifically to the existing trading card game enthusiast community.
