Where it came from
Butlers x Battlers, known in Japan as Butlers: Chitose Momotose Monogatari, was produced by the studio SILVER LINK. and aired in 2018. The series was developed as a multimedia project involving a collaboration between a group of creators known as 'Intouchable BUTLER' and the animation studio, aiming to blend elements of supernatural mystery with the aesthetic of high-school-themed anime tropes.
The character designs were conceptualized with a focus on contrasting personalities, centering on two central figures who navigate a complex, time-spanning narrative. Upon its release, the series was noted for its attempt to integrate intricate historical subplots with the 'butler' genre, though it generally received mixed critical reception regarding its pacing and the execution of its ambitious fantasy premise.
