Where it came from
Cardfight!! Vanguard G: Z served as the final season of the G series, airing in late 2017 to conclude the long-running narrative arcs established by the studio Sotsu. As the culmination of the 'Stride Gate' and 'NEXT' storylines, this series was designed to pivot the franchise toward a more climactic confrontation, introducing the enigmatic 'Zeroth Dragons' to shift the competitive landscape of the card game.
The visual direction and character designs were crafted to maintain the high-energy aesthetic associated with the Bushiroad multimedia project. By focusing on the battle against the dimension-defying villainy of Gyze, the series aimed to provide a definitive resolution for protagonist Chrono Shindou and his peers. Critics and long-term fans generally received the season as a polished conclusion that successfully consolidated years of complex lore before the subsequent franchise reboot.
