Where it came from
Charm Point 1: Sister's Rondo was released in 1999 as an adult-oriented original video animation, produced during the late 1990s boom in the direct-to-video anime market. Distributed by Media Blasters, this title belongs to a period when small boutique distributors were aggressively licensing niche Japanese animation to fill the growing demand for home video content in North America.
The production follows the established aesthetic of late 90s digital-cel hybrid animation, prioritizing a soft, character-focused art style characteristic of the era's romantic-comedy genre. As a low-budget OVA, it reflects the typical production values of the time, functioning primarily as a short-form storytelling experiment that served to expand the reach of Japanese independent animation studios to international English-speaking audiences.
