Where it came from
Chikyuu to no Yakusoku, or The Promise to the Earth, was produced by Tezuka Productions in 2018 as an educational animated short. It was commissioned to address environmental issues and climate change, drawing on the legacy of Osamu Tezuka, who often used his platform to advocate for nature conservation and humanitarian causes. The film utilizes iconic characters from the Tezuka repertoire to convey urgent ecological messages to a younger generation.
The animation reflects the signature style of Tezuka Productions, maintaining the clean lines and expressive character designs established by the studio's namesake. While the production is more instructional than mainstream commercial anime, it serves as a continuation of the studio’s commitment to social responsibility.
