Chillin' in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers

Chillin' in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers originated as a light novel series written by Miya Kinojo, which began serialization on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in 2016. The story follows Flio, a merchant who is summoned to a magical realm as a hero candidate but is disqualified due to his lack of initial aptitude, only to discover that his powers reset to an infinite level upon reaching level two. Its transition to an animated television series was overseen by J.C.Staff and broadcast in 2024, aiming to capture the lighthearted and subverted tropes of the popular isekai genre.

The character designs for the anime adaptation were handled by Sotaro Shimizu, who worked to translate the original illustrations by Katagiri into a fluid, expressive animation style suitable for television. The series was produced by the publishing house OVERLAP, which sought to expand the reach of their growing library of fantasy titles. Upon release, the series received attention for its focus on the protagonist's preference for a peaceful, domestic life rather than the typical combat-heavy trajectory of similar genre entries, finding an audience among viewers who appreciate relaxed, low-stakes storytelling.
