Chou Futsuu Toshi Kashiwa Densetsu R

Chou Futsuu Toshi Kashiwa Densetsu R is a 2020 animated series produced by Super Normal Studio, serving as an expansion of the Kashiwa Densetsu franchise. The series was designed as a hyper-local effort to promote the city of Kashiwa in Chiba Prefecture, Japan. It builds upon the established motif of 'super-normal' urban legends, weaving comedic and slice-of-life narratives into the backdrop of familiar local landmarks and city culture.

The production maintains a distinct aesthetic that balances minimalist animation with the specific, idiosyncratic character designs associated with the Kashiwa city promotional projects. By focusing on mundane city life augmented by surreal, folkloric elements, the creators aimed to foster a sense of community engagement and civic pride. While the show remains a niche regional interest, it has been noted for its commitment to the 'local animation' genre, representing a unique bridge between city tourism initiatives and the broader medium of Japanese animation.
