Tsubasa loves baseball so much, she started her high school’s baseball club herself! But passion alone won’t keep a club alive, so it’s up to her to recruit as many all-star players as she can. Some potential recruits have never played before while others have returned to the game thanks to Tsubasa, and together they’ll form a team united in love for the game and their growing friendship. But whether they win or lose, one thing’s for sure: Every game they play together is sure to be a home run!

Where it came from
Cinderella Nine, also known as Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine, originated as a mobile game developed by Akatsuki and Kadokawa, released in 2017. The project sought to bridge the gap between traditional sports management simulations and the character-driven narrative styles popular in modern Japanese animation. In 2019, TMS Entertainment adapted the premise into a television series, focusing on a group of high school girls who establish a baseball team from the ground up, highlighting themes of camaraderie and athletic growth.
The animation design was handled by TMS Entertainment with a focus on capturing the vibrant, wholesome aesthetic of the source material. By centering the story on the technical nuances of baseball paired with character development, the production aimed to appeal to fans of both sports dramas and slice-of-life anime. Upon its release, the series was noted for its accessible approach to the sport, though it faced criticism regarding its pacing in comparison to the expansive narrative of the original game.
