The story centers on the titular Clevatess, the lord of Dark Beasts, who wields both uncanny intellect and destructive power. Frustrated by the 13 heroes tasked to destroy him, he has decided to be rid of humanity once and for all. However, he has been charged with one nuisance: he revived a hero he personally slayed and adopts an orphaned humanoid baby—the last hope to save a dying world. The world stands upon the brink of Armageddon, with the obligation of raising one child holding it all back. Now bound together, what fate awaits this unlikely trio?

Where it came from
Clevatess, subtitled The King of Devil World, is an animated television series scheduled for release in 2025 by Kadokawa. The project serves as an adaptation of the dark fantasy manga series created by Akira Toriyama, which explores themes of power, morality, and the complex relationship between a formidable demon king and a human infant. The production follows a trend of prestige fantasy adaptations coming out of the Kadokawa studio system, which often emphasizes high-fidelity character designs that honor the source material's visual identity.
The creative direction for the series is intended to capture the distinctive world-building characteristic of the original manga. By bringing this story to a serialized television format, the production team aims to translate the intricate panel work and emotional weight of the source material into a dynamic visual medium. The announcement of the series was received with considerable interest by enthusiasts of the genre, who have long awaited a faithful screen representation of the work's blend of monstrous aesthetics and sentimental narrative beats.
