Chinami Ebihara is girl with a strange ability to generate electromagnetic waves when her emotions run high. However, since this 'ability' affects anything electrical, it resulted in her having to transfer from school to school when she was younger. As Chinami, now 18 years of age, transfers to a new school, she once again affects the electronic devices in the school, but this time, when another student, Kotaro Kannagi, sees her do this, he becomes obsessed in studying her "TYPE-E" ability.

Where it came from
Code-E was produced by Studio Deen and aired in 2007 as an original science fiction anime series. It centers on Chinami Ebihara, a high school student whose emotions trigger electromagnetic phenomena, exploring the integration of extraordinary abilities into the mundane, structured life of a Japanese teenager. The series was created to bridge the gap between character-driven school drama and light sci-fi, focusing on the social and personal consequences of being different in a conformist environment.
The character designs for the series were handled by illustrator Koharu Inoue, who aimed for a clean, approachable aesthetic that grounded the show's unusual premise in a familiar slice-of-life visual language. Upon its release, the series was received as a modest, character-focused entry in the studio's catalog. It is remembered for its distinct blend of whimsical physics and gentle narrative pacing, standing out as a quiet experiment in the supernatural subgenre of the mid-2000s.
