Crane Game Girls

Crane Game Girls, also known as Game Center Arashi, was produced by the studio Kyotoma and premiered in 2016. The series was developed as a short-form comedy anime centered on a trio of girls tasked with saving the world by playing arcade crane games. It emerged during a period of experimentation in the Japanese anime industry, where studios sought to bridge the gap between traditional broadcast media and mobile-focused, interactive content through short, accessible episodic formats.

The series is noted for its experimental visual style, which utilized early-stage motion capture and 3D animation techniques to render its characters. This stylistic choice was intended to lend the production a distinct, somewhat surreal aesthetic that mirrored the digital nature of the arcade games depicted. While the series received modest attention upon release, it remains a curious case study in the mid-2010s trend of using unconventional digital workflows to produce niche-interest comedy series.
