Creamy Mami: Zutto Kitto Motto

Creamy Mami: Zutto Kitto Motto was produced by Studio Pierrot in 1998, serving as a nostalgic revival of the beloved 1980s magical girl series Magical Angel Creamy Mami. Created to celebrate the enduring legacy of the franchise, the project revisited the story of Yuu Morisawa, a young girl who transforms into a pop idol, blending the original series' iconic aesthetic with updated animation sensibilities characteristic of the late nineties.

The production sought to capture the blend of character-driven drama and musical flair that defined the original work, which was originally designed by character designer Akemi Takada. Known for her delicate, expressive lines and influence on the aesthetic of the 1980s anime boom, Takada’s vision for the series remained a central pillar in this return. Upon its release, the title was received warmly by long-time fans who appreciated the effort to honor the franchise’s roots while providing a polished, contemporary look at the characters who had become staples of the magical girl genre.
