Where it came from
Crossing Sight emerged from the Geidai Animation program, a prestigious incubator for talent at the Tokyo University of the Arts. The project was developed as a graduation work, reflecting the rigorous academic and artistic environment of the program. It was crafted to showcase the technical dexterity and narrative ambition expected of students within this highly selective conservatory, serving as a platform for the filmmaker to explore complex visual language and experimental storytelling.
The design of the work prioritizes a distinct aesthetic often found in independent animation, emphasizing thematic depth over commercial conventions. By focusing on personal vision and unconventional visual compositions, the film was intended to challenge the audience's perception of space and time. Upon its release within the festival circuit and university showcases, it received critical appreciation for its disciplined animation techniques and the contemplative nature of its artistic direction.
