Cutta-kun Monogatari

Cutta-kun Monogatari, released in 1995, is an obscure animated feature produced by the studio Aubeck. Emerging during a period of experimentation within the Japanese direct-to-video and smaller-scale theatrical market, the project serves as a representative example of mid-90s independent animation efforts that sought to blend whimsical storytelling with the distinct aesthetic sensibilities common to that era's studio output.

The film is primarily recognized by enthusiasts of rare or underground anime. Because Aubeck was a smaller studio often involved in subcontracting work for larger productions, Cutta-kun Monogatari functions as a curiosity for those tracking the history of smaller production houses. Its design and narrative style reflect the modest technical resources of the time, focusing on a character-driven approach that, while not achieving widespread mainstream success, remains a niche item for dedicated collectors of 90s cult animation.
