Da Chaoxun Zhi Ye

Da Chaoxun Zhi Ye, or The Night of the Great Scouting Mission, was produced by the Shanghai Animation Film Studio during the mid-20th century. It emerged during a period when the studio was heavily focused on establishing a distinct national identity for Chinese animation, often blending traditional artistic techniques with educational or moral narratives. The film serves as a representative example of the studio's commitment to creating engaging content for youth audiences while reflecting the prevailing social and cultural values of the era.

The visual direction of the film draws heavily from the stylistic traditions cultivated at the Shanghai Animation Film Studio, which prioritized expressive character design and fluid motion. Created under the collaborative creative environment of the studio, the animation sought to balance technical craftsmanship with clear, accessible storytelling. While specific design notes from the individual animators are rare in public records, the film is viewed by animation historians as a technical achievement that helped sustain the studio's reputation for high-quality, hand-drawn productions throughout the decades.
