Dagashi Kashi 2

Dagashi Kashi 2 was released in 2018 as the follow-up to the 2016 anime adaptation of Kotoyama's original manga series. While the first season was produced by studio Feel, the production shifted to Tezuka Productions for this installment. The series maintains its focus on the eccentric Hotaru Shidare and her attempts to recruit Kokonotsu Shikada into her family's confectionery business, blending comedy with genuine cultural trivia about traditional Japanese penny candy.

The character designs were handled by Kanetoshi Kamimoto, who sought to translate the manga's distinct aesthetic into a more fluid animation style suitable for the faster-paced storytelling of the sequel. The series was received as a lighthearted continuation that leaned heavily into the nostalgic appeal of its subject matter, though fans often noted the shift in studio style compared to the original adaptation.
