Where it came from
Daily Lives at Daisy Lodge was produced by the students and faculty at the Tokyo University of the Arts, or Geidai Animation. Emerging from the university’s rigorous graduate animation program, the film reflects the institution's commitment to artistic exploration and traditional craft. It was conceived as a showcase for the unique creative voices within the department, aiming to capture the understated, observational nuances of daily life through a medium that often leans toward the fantastical.
The project was designed with a focus on restrained narrative and fluid, painterly aesthetics that prioritize texture and mood over conventional pacing. Upon its release, it was well-received within the independent animation circuit for its contemplative tone and the high level of technical proficiency displayed by its student creators. It remains a notable example of the academic, artisanal approach to film production fostered by Geidai Animation.
