Where it came from
Dase! Ikevo Gakuen is a short-form original net animation produced by the Japanese studio DLE Inc. Released in the early 2010s, it emerged during a period when the studio was gaining significant traction for its signature minimalist 'Flash-style' animation aesthetic. The series was designed to function as a humorous, satirical take on the stereotypical high school anime genre, utilizing absurdist comedy to subvert typical tropes associated with student life and academic settings.
The animation reflects the creative philosophy of DLE, which often prioritizes rapid-fire dialogue and dry, observational humor over traditional fluid character movement. By stripping back the visual complexity, the creators aimed to highlight the absurdity of the narrative situations. While the series remains a niche entry in the studio's broader catalog of short-form digital content, it is frequently cited by enthusiasts of early 2010s web animation as a quintessential example of the low-budget, high-concept stylistic trends prevalent on Japanese video platforms at the time.
