The Demon Lord continues his adventure in this re-vamped series! After encountering the mysterious entity in the lowest level of the Bastille Dungeon, he sets out for Hellion Territory, where Grand Devils vie for domination of the realm. With the addition of a new advisor—the (seemingly) hopeless optimist Akane—the Demon Lord’s army grows even more colorful, and their hijinks even wackier.

Where it came from
Demon Lord, Retry! R serves as a refreshed continuation of the original light novel series by Kurone Kanzaki, adapted into a television anime series by studio Gekkou in 2024. The project was conceived to revitalize the franchise after the 2019 adaptation, focusing on the story of Akira Ono, a man transported into the body of his own game character, the Demon Lord Hakuto Kunai. This iteration aimed to expand upon the world-building and character dynamics that defined the source material's initial success.
The production sought to balance the familiar comedic fantasy tropes of the 'isekai' genre with the specific stylistic signature of the sequel novels. Studio Gekkou took over the reins to provide a new visual interpretation of Kanzaki’s work, emphasizing the protagonist's tactical approach to his new reality. Upon its release, the series was received by audiences as a dedicated effort to re-engage fans of the original concept while navigating the shifting landscape of modern anime production.
