Where it came from
Released in 2004, Detective Conan: Magician of the Silver Sky serves as the eighth feature film in the long-running anime franchise created by Gosho Aoyama. Produced by TMS Entertainment, the film was designed to capitalize on the series' established popularity by escalating the stakes, transitioning from typical mystery settings to a high-tension aerial disaster scenario aboard a commercial flight.
The film was directed by Yasuichiro Yamamoto, who oversaw a production that aimed to balance the series' signature deductive logic with the cinematic spectacle of an action-thriller. While the film received mixed reactions from critics regarding the feasibility of its climactic landing sequence, it was well-received by the franchise's fanbase and remains a notable entry for its ambition and contribution to the series' cinematic evolution.
