Detective Conan: Quarter of Silence

Released in 2011 as the fifteenth installment in the long-running Detective Conan film series, Quarter of Silence was produced by TMS Entertainment and Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions. The film was created to commemorate the fifteenth anniversary of the franchise, serving as a landmark entry that coincided with the series' ongoing success both in manga and television broadcast formats. The narrative reflects the franchise's shift toward high-stakes, action-oriented spectacles, moving the setting to the snowy mountains of Niigata to differentiate it from the urban mysteries that typically define the series.

The film was directed by Yasuichiro Yamamoto, a veteran of the series who aimed to blend the traditional deductive mystery elements with a larger cinematic scale. By incorporating themes of environmental disaster and survival, the production team sought to elevate the emotional stakes for the protagonist, Conan Edogawa. Upon its release, the film was well-received by fans for its ambitious animation sequences and its role in marking a significant milestone for the franchise, ultimately performing strongly at the Japanese box office.
