De:vadasy

De:vadasy is a two-episode original video animation (OVA) series produced by the studio AIC and released in 2000. It emerged during a period when the studio was experimenting with high-concept science fiction narratives, blending elements of cyberpunk aesthetics with psychological drama. The production was intended to explore existential themes through the lens of early-millennium anime sensibilities, focusing on a complex, somewhat cryptic storyline that prioritized atmosphere and visual experimentation over conventional pacing.

The series is noted for its distinctive visual direction, which reflects the studio's attempt to push the boundaries of digital and traditional cel-based compositing common in late-90s anime. While the project was met with mixed reviews upon release due to its challenging and often opaque narrative structure, it remains a notable entry in AIC’s extensive catalog. It is often discussed by enthusiasts of the era for its ambitious tone and the specific stylistic hallmarks that characterized independent OVA projects before the industry shifted toward more serialized television formats.
