Doko kara Kita no

Doko kara Kita no, which translates to Where Did You Come From, is a seminal work by the Japanese artist and illustrator Shigeo Fukuda. Created in the late 20th century, the piece is a classic example of Fukuda's mastery of optical illusions and minimalist graphic design, reflecting his career-long interest in the tension between two-dimensional surfaces and three-dimensional perception.

Fukuda was a central figure in Japanese graphic design, known for his ability to use simple shapes and monochromatic palettes to convey complex visual puns. This particular design was crafted to challenge the viewer's spatial assumptions, utilizing clever silhouettes to suggest forms that seem to shift as the eye traverses the print. It remains highly regarded in the design community as an essential study in negative space and geometric playfulness.
