Doraemon: Nobita no Uchuu Kaitakushi

Doraemon: Nobita no Uchuu Kaitakushi, released in 1981, serves as the second feature-length film in the long-running anime franchise. Produced by Shin-Ei Animation, the film was developed during a period when the series was transitioning from a successful television adaptation into a cinematic staple. It was directed by Hideo Nishimaki, building upon the original manga created by Fujiko F. Fujio, and explores themes of cosmic adventure and environmental stewardship that defined much of the early film series.

The narrative follows Nobita and Doraemon as they assist residents of a distant planet, a setting that allowed the production team to experiment with more expansive, science-fiction influenced world-building than the standard television episodes permitted. The film's design aesthetic remains faithful to the clean, expressive lines of the Fujiko F. Fujio manga, a stylistic choice that grounded the fantastical space setting in the relatable, domestic tone that audiences had come to associate with the series.
