Where it came from
Doraemon: Nobita's Animal Planet was released in 1990 as the eleventh entry in the long-running Doraemon feature film series. Produced by Shin-Ei Animation, the film emerged during a period when the franchise was cementing its tradition of annual spring theatrical releases, which frequently explored environmental and moral themes through the lens of science fiction and fantasy adventure.
The film was directed by Tsutomu Shibayama and based on the manga created by Fujiko F. Fujio, who acted as the primary creative force behind the series. The narrative focuses on Nobita and Doraemon discovering a planet populated by humanoid animals, serving as a poignant commentary on human impact upon nature. It is widely regarded by fans and critics for its evocative atmosphere and remains one of the more emotionally resonant entries in the series' cinematic history.
