Doraemon: Nobita to Midori no Kyojin Den

Doraemon: Nobita and the Green Giant Legend, released in 2008, serves as the twenty-eighth entry in the long-running Doraemon film franchise. Produced by Toho and animated by Shin-Ei Animation, the film was conceived as a thematic exploration of environmentalism and humanity's relationship with nature. Its narrative centers on Nobita discovering a sentient plant creature, leading to an adventure that pits the protagonist and his friends against a civilization of plant-based beings concerned about Earth's ecological destruction.

The film was directed by Ayumu Watanabe, who aimed to revitalize the franchise's cinematic output with a more serious and emotional tone compared to previous installments. The character design followed the classic aesthetic established by creators Fujiko F. Fujio, while integrating more modern digital compositing techniques. Upon its release, the film was received as a sincere attempt to address modern environmental anxieties through the lens of a classic children's property, maintaining the franchise's tradition of blending whimsical science fiction with moral lessons.
