Where it came from
Dragon Ball: Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans is a 2010 original video animation (OVA) produced by Toei Animation. It serves as a high-definition remake of the 1993 'Playdia' video game interactive anime of the same name. The project was commissioned as a tie-in for the Raging Blast 2 video game, providing fans with a modern reinterpretation of the classic 'Ghost Warrior' storyline featuring Dr. Lychee and the Tuffle race's quest for vengeance against the Saiyans.
The production sought to revitalize the original narrative using the updated visual style prevalent during the Dragon Ball Kai era. By adapting the nonlinear structure of the 1993 material into a cohesive animated feature, Toei aimed to satisfy long-term enthusiasts of the franchise who had nostalgic ties to the obscure early nineties footage. The animation team maintained the core character designs established by Akira Toriyama, ensuring the feature felt authentic to the established canon while benefiting from the technological advancements in digital ink and paint available in 2010.
