Dream Star Button Nose

Dream Star Button Nose, also known as Button Nose, debuted in 1985 as an animated television series produced by Sanrio. The character was developed to expand Sanrio's reach beyond stationery and merchandise, tapping into the 1980s trend of branding iconic, whimsical characters with their own narrative backstories. The series follows the adventures of a young girl named Trissy, who earns her nickname from her prominent nose and travels to a fantasy kingdom.

The character design reflects the quintessential Sanrio aesthetic of the mid-1980s, emphasizing soft, pastel color palettes and a sense of gentle curiosity. The animation style was aimed primarily at young children, focusing on themes of friendship and exploration. While it remains a niche entry in the broader Sanrio catalog compared to giants like Hello Kitty, the series is remembered by collectors as a distinct representative of the studio's mid-decade experimentation with character-driven television programming.
