Dushi Gu Xian Yi

Dushi Gu Xian Yi, also known as Urban Fairy Tales, is an original net animation produced by iQIYI that emerged during the platform's significant push into the domestic Chinese animation market. Released as part of a strategic effort to adapt serialized web literature into high-fidelity animation, the series reflects a contemporary trend of blending traditional Chinese mythological motifs with the fast-paced, high-stakes aesthetic of modern urban settings.

The production relies on advanced 3D character modeling and cel-shaded rendering techniques, a hallmark of iQIYI's in-house animation studio's visual identity. By merging supernatural folklore with metropolitan drama, the design team aimed to capture a younger demographic seeking narratives that ground ancient spiritual themes in relatable, everyday scenarios. Upon its release, the series was noted primarily for its technical polish and its contribution to the growing body of works that define the current era of Chinese web-based animation.
