Something like cooking contests in anime form. Approximately three minutes long per episode, in each story there is an evaluation judgement about preparing home food. The preparation is described as humorously as possible. Funny wordplays are often mentioned several times in a consequence and are particularly salient but are repeated in a merry way.

Where it came from
Seishun no Shokutaku, released as Easy Cooking Animation in 1989, represents a unique fusion of early culinary-themed anime and the distinctive artistic sensibilities of Studio Madhouse. Produced during a period when the studio was diversifying its portfolio to include more experimental shorts and anthology-style works, this series sought to translate the domestic appeal of cooking into an episodic, instructional animated format. It was designed to be both accessible and charming, focusing on simple recipes that resonated with the daily lives of its target audience.
The series is noted for its clean, expressive character designs that reflect the late 1980s aesthetic, prioritizing clarity and warmth over complex action sequences. By focusing on the rhythmic and sensory details of food preparation, the production team aimed to elevate the mundane act of cooking into a pleasant visual experience. While it remains a niche entry in the extensive Madhouse library, it is regarded by animation historians as a precursor to the modern wave of food-centric anime, praised for its focus on the joy of home-cooked meals.
