Where it came from
Embracing Love: Cherished Spring was released in 2005 by the animation studio Kitty Media as an adaptation of the popular manga series Haru wo Daiteita by Youka Nitta. The project was part of a broader wave of early 2000s anime productions that brought mature-themed boy's love stories to the home video market through the Original Video Animation format, which allowed for more explicit content than standard television broadcasts.
The character designs and animation direction sought to translate Youka Nitta’s distinct, detailed art style into a moving medium, focusing heavily on the complex romantic and professional dynamic between the two protagonists, Kato and Iwaki. While the adaptation was received primarily by a niche audience of dedicated fans of the original manga, it remains a notable example of mid-2000s independent animation efforts to capture the aesthetic and emotional tone of the source material.
