Where it came from
Tsuioku Selection - Crossroad was released in 2023 as part of a specialized series of original net animations designed to provide visual adaptations of significant backstory events from the Ensemble Stars!! mobile game universe. Produced by Dandelion Animation Studio, these segments were crafted to deepen the narrative foundations of the franchise, specifically focusing on the pivotal and often complex history shared by key characters in their earlier years.
The production sought to balance the franchise's established aesthetic with a cinematic, narrative-driven approach, moving away from the typical concert-heavy visuals of the series. By focusing on the emotional development and the formative intersections of the characters' lives, the studio aimed to offer long-term fans a more grounded look at the origins of their favorite idols, receiving generally positive recognition for its tonal departure and dedication to the source material's character-focused writing.
