Where it came from
Eri is a 2026 animated feature film produced by the French studio Miyu Productions. The project emerged from the studio's ongoing commitment to auteur-driven animation, specifically focusing on narratives that explore the intersection of human memory and surrealist imagery. It represents a significant milestone for the studio in scaling its high-concept short film aesthetic to a full-length cinematic experience.
The film's visual identity was crafted to emphasize hand-drawn textures, a signature of the studio's collaborative approach to animation production. By utilizing a blend of traditional techniques and modern digital compositing, the production team aimed to create an immersive, atmospheric environment that prioritizes emotional resonance over hyper-realism. Upon its release, it received critical attention for its distinct artistic direction and the studio's continued influence on contemporary independent animation.
