The "heartwarming" anime's story follows the two titular women Escha and Chron, whose contrasting personalities are like the sun and moon. The two women are from "Terminal," a future post-apocalyptic world that's empty and monochrome. The two women cross worlds and arrive in the present day, which they call "Transit." As Escha and Chron experience the light (scenery) and sound (music) of the real world, the future world of Terminal gradually changes into a more vivid world.

Where it came from
Escha Chron was released in 2017 as a two-part original video animation project produced by Studio Lerche. The production was conceived as a multi-media initiative, originally debuting as a stage reading performance at the Dengeki Bunko Fall Festival before being adapted into its animated format. The story explores themes of duality and memory, following two girls from parallel worlds who cross paths in a desolate environment.
The project features character designs by the artist Humikane Shimada, known for his distinct mechanical and aesthetic style. The animation aimed for a contemplative tone, emphasizing the atmospheric relationship between the two leads. Upon release, the project was noted for its experimental narrative structure and served as a vehicle for the voice acting performances of Ui Sagara and Yui Ishikawa, though it remains a niche entry within the studio's broader body of work.
