Where it came from
Eureka Seven AO: Jungfrau no Hanabana-tachi was released in 2012 as an original video animation that serves as a side story to the television series Eureka Seven AO. Produced by studio Bones, this production explores the events surrounding the mysterious incidents in the Jungfrau region, providing context to the broader geopolitical conflicts and the presence of Scub Coral in the series' alternate timeline.
The animation maintains the aesthetic and thematic continuity established by Bones for the Eureka Seven franchise, focusing on the blend of mecha combat and character-driven drama. While the franchise as a whole is known for its intricate world-building and high-concept science fiction, this specific OVA was designed to flesh out the narrative gaps within the AO timeline, though it received a mixed reception from fans who were divided on the series' departure from the tone of the original 2005 show.
