Where it came from
Fermat Kitchen is a Japanese television drama series produced by SKY Perfect Pictures and broadcast in 2025. The series is based on the popular manga of the same name by Fumi Yoshinaga, which explores the intersection of high-level mathematics and culinary artistry. It follows a mathematical genius who transitions from a failed academic career to the high-pressure world of professional cooking, framing the preparation of food as a process governed by numerical precision and complex equations.
The production sought to visualize the abstract beauty of cooking through a blend of technical mastery and dramatic storytelling. By emphasizing the protagonist's unique analytical perspective, the series departs from traditional culinary dramas to focus on the systematic logic behind gastronomy. Upon its release, it was noted for its polished cinematography and the thoughtful way it translated the manga's intellectual themes into a live-action format, resonating with audiences interested in both culinary culture and the philosophy of science.
